Overview

States that the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) must determine eligibility of a person by using their average of the last six months of income.

History

Established in 1981, AHCCCS is Arizona’s Medicaid program that oversees contracted health plans to coordinate and provide physical and behavioral health care to individuals and families who qualify for Medicaid and other medical assistance programs. AHCCCS is jointly funded through federal and state governments to provide health care to qualifying individuals including low-income adults, their children and people with certain disabilities. The AHCCCS website publishes a medical assistance eligibility policy manual.
