Overview

Appropriates $1,500,000 from the state General Fund (GF) in FYs 2022-2026 to the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to purchase and deploy body cameras for department personnel.

History

DPS is responsible for creating and coordinating services for use by local law enforcement agencies in maintaining public safety. Currently, DPS is required to formulate plans with a view of establishing modern services for prevention of crime, apprehension of violators, training law enforcement personnel and the promotion of public safety. (A.R.S. § 41-1711).

The divisions within DPS consists of the Arizona Highway Patrol division, Narcotics Enforcement and Criminal Investigation division, Scientific Criminal Analysis division and Training and Education division (A.R.S. § 41-1712).

Provisions
