Summary of Strike Everything Amendment to HB 2439

 

Overview

Requires the Department of Child Safety (Department) to submit a report every six months on missing children to the Governor and the Legislature.

History

Upon receiving a report or information indicating a child is at risk and the child's location is unknown, the Department must notify the appropriate law enforcement agency and provide the required information needed for the law enforcement agency to immediately make a record entry into the Arizona Crime Information Center and the National Crime Information Center Missing Person Databases (A.R.S. § 8-810).

Provisions

1.   Requires the Department to report on all missing children in a runaway status and provide the report to the Governor and the Legislature every six months. (Sec. 1)

2.   Outlines the report's requirements, including specific demographic, statistical and case-related information that must be included in the report. (Sec. 1)

3.   Defines runaway status and taken child. (Sec. 1)

4.   Terminates the Department's reporting requirement for the Department on January 1, 2026. (Sec 2)

5.   States the first reporting period for which the Department will make information available is June 1, 2021 through December 1, 2021. (Sec. 3)
