Overview

Allows a group for an event to obtain a special event license provided certain requirements are met.

History

The Department of Liquor Licenses and Control (Department), which consists of the State Liquor Board and the Office of the Director (Director) of the Department regulates the manufacture, distribution and sale of liquor in this state through the issuance of 21 license types or series.

Pursuant to A.R.S. § 4-203.02, the Director may issue a temporary special event license which authorizes a licensee on-sale or off-sale privileges. The Director may only issue a special event license to a: 1) government entity; 2) political party or campaign committee supporting a candidate for public office or a ballot measure; or 3) 501(c) nonprofit entity.  An applicant for a special event license may contract with a special event contractor for assistance in selling and serving spirituous liquor at the special event.

a)   The group holding the event is a nonprofit entity;

b)   The proceeds of the event are for a charitable or nonprofit purpose;

c)   The event will be held at a physical location owned by a nonprofit entity or an organization that is organized as a 501(c); and

d)   The event has not been previously cited for any violation with regards to alcoholic beverages. (Sec. 1)
