HB 2332: aggravated assault; DCS employees

Overview

Expands the list of aggravated assault victims to include a Department of Child Safety (DCS) employee engaged in official duties.

History

A person commits aggravated assault if the person commits assault knowing or having reason to know that the victim is: a peace officer, a constable, a firefighter, a teacher, a health care practitioner, a prosecutor, a code enforcement officer, a state or municipal park ranger, a public defender or a judicial officer (A.R.S. § 13-1204). 

Provisions

2.   Classifies certain specified actions as an aggravated assault committed against a DCS employee while engaged in any official duties as either a class two, three or four felony.  (Sec. 1)
