AN ACT

 

amending Title 16, chapter 4, article 8, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 16-541.01; relating to early voting.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1. Title 16, chapter 4, article 8, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 16-541.01, to read:

START_STATUTE16-541.01. County recorder; officer in charge of elections; early voting authority

NOTWITHSTANDING any other statute, The county recorder is the county official that has jurisdiction and authority over early voting in the county unless the county recorder declines to retain that jurisdiction and authority.  If the county recorder declines, the county officer in charge of elections has jurisdiction and AUTHORITY over early voting in the county.
