FLOOR AMENDMENT EXPLANATION
1. Establishes that a person who presents with specified impairments can be rendered eligible for involuntary treatment after being given an appropriate assessment and a reasonable period of time to rule out substance use as the primary cause of the alleged behavior.
2. Specifies that other prescribed timelines related to involuntary treatment are unaffected.

Page 6, line 12, strike "examination" insert "assessment of the person's current presentation,"
Strike line 13, insert "time to rule out substance abuse as the primary cause of the alleged behavior, the person's presentation is consistent with a mental disorder that would benefit from treatment."
After line 26, insert:
"E. This section does not affect any time frames otherwise prescribed in this chapter."
