appropriation; Arizona trail fund
Purpose
Appropriates $250,000 from the State Parks Revenue Fund in FY 2021 to the Arizona Trail Fund.
Background
The
State Parks Revenue Fund is used for the operation and maintenance of the state
park system and to acquire and develop real property as state parks consistent
with the purposes and objectives of the Arizona State Parks Board. The State
Parks Revenue Fund consists of: 1) monies received from the sale of park
posters, postcards, books, souvenirs and other sundry items;
2) monies appropriated by the Legislature for the purpose of enhancing state
parks; 3) gifts and donations; 4) all monies derived from the state parks user
fees, concession fees and other revenue generating activities; 5) surcharges on
park reservations; and 6) the sale of park assets (A.R.S.
§ 41-511.21).
Established in 2006, the Arizona Trail Fund, administered by the Arizona State Parks Board, consists of legislative appropriations and donations. The monies in the Arizona Trail Fund may only be used to maintain the Arizona Trail. The Arizona Trail extends approximately 800 miles between the southern and northern borders of Arizona and is designated to memorialize former U.S. Congressman Bob Stump (A.R.S. § 41-511.15).
H.B. 2073 appropriates $250,000 from the State Parks Revenue Fund in FY 2021 to the Arizona Trail Fund.
Provisions
1. Appropriates $250,000 from the State Parks Revenue Fund in FY 2021 to the Arizona Trail Fund.
2. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
