Overview

Declares the Legislature's commitment to the right to keep and bear arms as outlined in the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of Arizona.

History

The second amendment to the Constitution of the United States states "a well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed".

Article II, Section 26 of the Constitution of Arizona states "the right of the individual to bear arms in defense of himself or the state shall not be impaired, but nothing in this section shall be construed as authorizing individuals or corporations to organize, maintain or employ an armed body of men."
