Overview

Appropriates $2,500,000 from the state GF in FY 21 to the Department of Economic Security (DES) to distribute to Area Agencies on Aging (AAA).

History

DES provides an array of services for low-income households and others in need. These services are provided through the following divisions: 1) Aging and Adult Services; 2) Developmental Disabilities; 3) Benefits and Medical Eligibility; 4) Child Support Services; and 5) Employment and Rehabilitation Services.

AAAs are public or private non-profit agencies, designated by the State to address the needs and concerns of all older Arizonans. AAAs plan and coordinate services at the local level by: 1) advocating for older adults; and 2) offering information on programs, options and community supports.
