Overview

Appropriates $887,400 from the state General Fund in FY 2021 to the Arizona Department of Agriculture's (Department) Plant Services Division.

History

The Department consists of several divisions help it administer and enforce agriculture-related statutes in Arizona. The Plant Services Division provides entomological services (A.R.S. § 3-102), which includes safeguarding agriculture, food and the environment and controlling the entry and spreading of plant pests, diseases and noxious weeds in Arizona (Department).  

The Legislature has previously appropriated monies to this division for specific issues. For example, it appropriated $250,000 from the state General Fund to the Plant Services Division in FY 2020 for laboratory testing related to the quality regulation of industrial hemp (Laws 2018, Chapter 287, §8).

Provisions

1.    Appropriates $887,400 from the state General Fund to the Department's Plant Services Division in FY 2021.
