Overview
Stipulates that a school district governing board or a charter school may not prohibit a student who is a member of a federally recognized tribe or is eligible to be enrolled as a member of a federally recognized Indian tribe from wearing traditional tribal regalia while participating in a graduation ceremony.
History
Statute outlines the various required duties of a school district governing board, which include:
1) Prescribing and enforcing policies and procedures for the governance of the schools that are not inconsistent with law or rules prescribed by the State Board of Education;
2) Prescribing the curricula and criteria for the promotion and graduation of students;
3) Holding students to strict account for disorderly conduct on school property;
4) Disciplining students for disorderly conduct on the way to and from school; and
5) Prescribing and enforcing policies and procedures to prohibit students from harassing, intimidating and bullying other students on school grounds, school property, school buses, at school bus stops, school-sponsored events and activities and through electronic technology and communication (A.R.S. § 15-341).
The charter of a charter school is required provide for a governing body that is responsible for the policy decisions of the charter school (A.R.S. § 15-183).

1.
