A RESOLUTION

on the death of k. leroy tucker.

(TEXT OF BILL BEGINS ON NEXT PAGE)

Kendrick Leroy Tucker, a long-time Arizona rancher, passed away on February 2, 2020.

Born on July 18, 1928, in Greenback, east of Tonto Basin, Arizona, Leroy Tucker was raised in that area where he learned farming, hunting, trapping and roping at a young age.  He honed his skills at his family's HZ Ranch at Pinto Creek in Roosevelt, Arizona, where he embarked on a successful and lifelong ranching career.  Leroy's ranching ventures would eventually expand from Roosevelt to California, Kansas, New Mexico and Texas, but it was his former home at the Pinto Creek Ranch to which he finally returned.

Leroy Tucker's exceptional roping skills earned him numerous accolades over the years, including the Houston Champion Calf Roper, Arizona's All Around Champion Roper, the Ring of Honor Roper and Arizona's Pioneer Stockman.  Despite the demands of his ranching work, Leroy ably served as president and director of the Gila County Cattle Growers Association and as a member of the United States Forest Service advisory board.

A loving and devoted husband and father, Leroy is survived by his wife of more than seventy years, Velma, and his beloved children, Tenna, Roy Dale and LeeAnn.  He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Therefore

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of Arizona:

That the Members of the House of Representatives express their deepest condolences to the family and friends of Leroy Tucker.
