AN ACT

 

Amending section 32‑3254, Arizona Revised Statutes; relating to the board of behavioral health examiners.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Section 32-3254, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended to read:

START_STATUTE32-3254.  Board of behavioral health examiners fund; scholarships for social workers

A.   The board of behavioral health examiners fund is established.  Pursuant to sections 35‑146 and 35‑147, the board shall deposit ten per cent percent of all monies received by the board in the state general fund and deposit the remaining ninety per cent percent in the board of behavioral health examiners fund.

B.  The board shall annually reserve One percent of the monies remaining in the fund pursuant to subsection A of this section that were collected from applicants under article 5 of this chapter to provide scholarships for social worker applicants who need assistance in obtaining materials for examinations required for licensure pursuant to article 5 of this chapter.

B.  C.  All monies deposited in the board of behavioral health examiners fund are subject to section 35‑143.01. END_STATUTE

Sec. 2.  Board of behavioral health examiners; rules; fees; social workers

A.  The board of behavioral health examiners shall adopt rules to eliminate the licensure fees for persons applying for licensure as a social worker pursuant to title 32, chapter 33, article 5, Arizona Revised Statutes, and to reduce the application fees to the following:

1.  $150 if the applicant's income is above one hundred thirty percent of the federal poverty level.

2.  $50 if the applicant is from a military family or receiving state benefits or the applicant's income is less than one hundred thirty percent of the federal poverty level.

B.  Until the board of behavioral health examiners adopts rules pursuant to subsection A of this section, the licensure fees for persons applying for licensure as a social worker pursuant to title 32, chapter 33, article 5, Arizona Revised Statutes, are eliminated and the application fees are as prescribed in subsection A of this section.
