AMENDMENT EXPLANATION
1. Expands proposed language
to address the state-wide shortage of nurses.
2. Replaces proposed
language relating to medical malpractice insurance cost offsets with a grant
program administered by the Department of Health Services for:
a) postsecondary nursing
education assistance; and
b) assistance to healthcare
institutions to implement programs that employ retired physicians and nurses to
provide oversight and guidance for new graduates of medical and nursing
programs.

physicians and nurses through the payment of stipends, malpractice premiums or
other benefits that provide oversight and guidance to new graduates of medical
and nursing programs."
