Purpose

Designates the first Saturday in April of each year as Public Lands Day.

Background

Title 37, Arizona Revised Statutes, governs Arizona's state and public lands, which includes State Trust Land, streams and forests. U.S. Code defines public lands as any land and interest in land owned by the United States within the several states and administered by the Secretary of the Interior through the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, without regard to how the United States acquired ownership (43 U.S. Code § 1702).
