History

A.R.S. §36-421 sets forth provisions for the construction or modification of a health care institution. A licensee must include architectural plans and specifications or DHS' approval of the plans and specifications in license applications. These plans and specifications must meet the minimum standards for licensure within the class or subclass of institution for which it is intended. The Arizona Administrative Code, Title 9, Chapter 10 contains the rules for licensing health care institutions.

DHS regulates and monitors health care facilities including nursing care institutions, adult foster care services and APH (A.R.S. § 36-402). APH is a home for aged and infirm Arizona pioneers, is designated as the hospital for miners with disabilities and is maintained near Prescott (A.R.S. § 41-921). APH's mission is to provide a home for Arizona pioneers and disabled miners that delivers the optimal physical, emotional and spiritual care in a homelike and compassionate environment.
