History

Currently, the American Civil Liberties Union recognizes at least 239 veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces have been deported to at least 34 countries. Deported veterans who were not seen by a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs doctor for evaluation are ineligible to claim their disabilities. Veterans who would otherwise seek treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder or other war-related injuries are denied approval unless they are about to die.

Provisions

1.       Urges the U.S. Congress to enact legislation providing medical treatment and other benefits for all veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces, including those who have been deported.

2.       Directs the Secretary of State to transmit copies of this memorial to the President of the U.S. Senate, the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and each member of Congress from Arizona.
