Appropriates $6 million from the state General Fund in FY 2020 to the Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) to distribute to the Navajo Technical University (NTU).
History
NTU began as the Navajo Skill Center in 1979, when it was established to meet the needs of the Navajo Nation population. In 2013, NTU was the first university established on the Navajo Nation. There is a six-member Board of Regents for NTU. NTU offers 20 associates degree programs, 10 bachelors degree programs including: Electrical Engineering, Business Administration and Biology, and one masters degree program in Diné Culture, Language, and Leadership.
NTU statistics as of Fall 2017 include:
1) 1,257 full-time undergraduate students in credit programs;
2) 50% of first-time, full-time undergraduate students returned in the fall of 2017 from the fall of 2016; and
3) The fall 2010 first-time, full-time students enrolled in a degree seeking program is 26%. (Navajo Technical University)
Provisions
1. Appropriates $6 million from the state GF in FY 2020 to the ADOA to distribute to the NTU to develop and construct an environmental testing laboratory on the campus in Chinle, Arizona. (Sec. 1)
