1.    Clarifies that school district and charter school personnel must complete the required suicide awareness and prevention training every three years.

2.    Requires Arizona teacher training programs to develop or adopt evidence-based instruction that includes the same elements required of school districts and charter schools and provide that instruction to all teacher candidates.

3.    Prevents entities from being held civilly or criminally liable for actions taken in good faith relating to the training.

Page 1, lines 4 and 5, strike "Training must be completed at least once every three years" insert "Each person who is required to obtain training pursuant to this section shall complete that training at least once every three years"

Between lines 6 and 7, insert:

"Strike lines 20 and 21"

Between lines 9 and 10, insert:

"Line 30, after "personnel" insert ", entities"

Between lines 14 and 15, insert:

"Line 36, strike "include training"

Strike lines 37 and 38, insert "develop or adopt evidenced‑based instruction on suicide awareness and prevention and provide that instruction to all teacher candidates in the teacher training programs.  The instruction shall include:

1.  Training in suicide prevention.

2.  Training to identify the warning signs of suicidal behavior in adolescents and teens.

3.  Appropriate intervention and referral techniques.""
