FLOOR AMENDMENT EXPLANATION
1. Allows the Director of the Arizona Department of Agriculture (AZDA) to obtain approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to recognize other food safety programs under AZDA authority. The program must align with and satisfy requirements of the Produce Safety Rule.
2. Deletes the cross-compliance provision that allowed the AZDA Director and US FDA to establish procedures and technical standards that are equivalent to those established pursuant to the produce safety program.
3. Makes conforming changes.
