career technical education districts.

 

Purpose

 

Renames joint technical education districts (JTEDs) to career technical education districts.

 

Background

 

JTEDs were established in 1990 to deliver specialized vocational career and technical education courses to high school students. JTEDs and member school districts may allow any student to enroll in a JTED course or program without regard for age or high school graduation status (A.R.S. § 15-393).

 

There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this legislation.

 

Provisions

 

1.      Renames JTEDs to career technical education districts.

 

2.      Makes technical and conforming changes.

 

3.      Becomes effective on the general effective date.
