Abstract

Provisions

1.       Requires public schools to provide at least two recess periods for students in grades K-5. (Sec. 1)

2.       Requires half-day kindergarten programs to provide at least one recess period. (Sec. 1)

3.       Allows P.E. to qualify as one of the required recess periods. (Sec. 1)

4.       Specifies public schools are not required to extend the school day to meet the recess requirements. (Sec. 1)

5.       Exempts middle schools, junior high schools, high schools, A.O.I or schools in which the lowest grade of instruction offered is grade 5. (Sec. 1)
