Provisions
1. Appropriates $400,000 to the AWPF in FY 2019 from the GF. (Sec. 1)
Current Law
In 1994, the Arizona Legislature established the AWPF and the AWPF Commission. The AWPF Commission, which administers the AWPF, is a 13-member commission consisting of: 1) nine voting members appointed by various state officials; 2) two non-voting ex-officio members, the ADWR Director and the State Land Commissioner; 3) one non-voting advisory member of the Arizona House of Representatives appointed by the Speaker of the House; and 4) one non-voting advisory member of the Arizona Senate appointed by the Senate President (A.R.S. § 45-2103).
The ADWR provides staffing support to the AWPF Commission. The Commission seeks to protect and restore Arizona's water resources by providing monies for the implementation of measures to protect water resources, and to conserve and restore rivers, streams, and other riparian resources and habitats. The Commission provides grants to public and private entities that participate in water resource management activities in cooperation with local residents and jurisdictions (A.R.S. § 45-2101).

$250,000 was appropriated to the AWPF in both FY 2017 and FY 2018.
