A. Sections 28-1524 and 28-1551 through 28-1554 govern all police officers in making arrests without a warrant for violations of chapters 3 and 4 of this title and this chapter. The procedure prescribed in this article is not exclusive of any other method prescribed by law for the arrest and prosecution of a person for an offense of like grade.

For a criminal offense alleged to have been committed in violation of this title and for which an officer is not authorized to arrest without a warrant, the officer may present the alleged violation before a magistrate in the same manner as any other misdemeanor and may proceed either under a warrant of arrest or a summons and notice to appear.
