David Lujan is a native Arizonan who was born in Phoenix, and graduated from Washington High School.  His BA in Marketing and Law Degree are both from Arizona State University..


David was first elected to the Arizona House of Representatives in 2004, and is currently serving his second term representing District 15, which covers most of the central Phoenix area. David is the Ranking Democrat on the House K-12 Education Committee, and is also a member of the House Appropriations Committee..


In 2006, David was elected to his second term on the Phoenix Union High School District Governing Board. He is currently serving as Board President, and working to bring a 21st Century focus and curriculum to the school district. David is also the Staff Attorney for Defenders of Children, a non-profit organization providing legal and support services for children who are victims of abuse.


Prior to being elected to the House of Representatives, David was Assistant Attorney General, representing the State of Arizona in school funding law suits, and legal counsel to the Arizona School Facilities Board.  David also worked as an attorney for the National Labor Relations Board, investigating and penalizing employers who violated Federal Labor Laws.  He is well known for his past work with the State Senate Judiciary Committee, where as a non-partisan attorney, he worked with Democrats and Republicans on all legislation dealing with prisons, the criminal code, election law and the courts.


David is the recipient of numerous awards, including the 2006 Arizona Students Association’s Legislator of the Year Award, and the 2006 Arizona Business and Education Coalition’s Legislative Partner Award. He is also a volunteer attorney coach for the Central High School mock trial team, is on the Board of Directors for the Christown YMCA and St. Joseph the Worker, and the Community Advisory Board for the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix Campus, and is Chair of the Advisory Board for the Arizona Latino Leadership Institute.
