Page 4, line 21, after "1." insert "If sufficient monies are appropriated for this purpose,"; strike "five" insert "six"

Line 27, after the period insert "If a teacher determines that a pupil's score on the state assessment was the result of an anomaly, the teacher shall notify the pupil's parent and the parent may give permission to opt the pupil out of the intervention measures prescribed in this paragraph."

After line 36, insert:

"Sec. 2.  Appropriation; department of education; mathematics intervention measures

A.  The sum of $10,700,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2017-2018 to the department of education for intervention measures for pupils in grades six through eight as prescribed in section 15‑701, Arizona Revised Statutes, as amended by this act.

B.  If sufficient monies are appropriated for this purpose, a school district shall receive a distribution of seven hundred ten dollars for each pupil in grades six through eight who scores in the bottom ten percent of pupils in this state on the mathematics portion of the state assessment.

C.  If the appropriated monies are not sufficient to allow a distribution pursuant to subsection B of this section, school districts that receive distributions from the monies appropriated in subsection A of this section shall give priority to intervention measures for pupils with the lowest scores on the mathematics portion of the state assessment."
