FLOOR
AMENDMENT EXPLANATION
1.
Clarifies the voluntary nature of insurer participation in
the insurance industry data match reporting system (reporting system) that is:
a)
operated by the Department of Economic Security or its
agent; and
b) is
used to identify insurance claimants to a settlement who are overdue on child
support payments.
2.
Clarifies that insurers are immune from any liability when
participating in the reporting system.
3.
Eliminates the $800 minimum threshold for claims that may
be reported by participating insurers, and allows participating insurers to
instead establish and revise at their discretion the dollar-amount threshold at
or above which they report claimant information to DES.
4.
Makes technical changes.
