AN ACT

 

Repealing section 41-3016.25, Arizona Revised Statutes; amending title 41, chapter 27, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 41‑3020.01; relating to the department of revenue.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Repeal

Section 41-3016.25, Arizona Revised Statutes, is repealed.

Sec. 2.  Title 41, chapter 27, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 41-3020.01, to read:

START_STATUTE41-3020.01.  Department of revenue; termination July 1, 2020

A.  The department of revenue terminates on July 1, 2020.

B.  Title 42, chapter 1, article 1 is repealed on January 1, 2021. END_STATUTE

Sec. 3.  Purpose

A.  Pursuant to section 41-2955, subsection B, Arizona Revised Statutes, the legislature continues the department of revenue to efficiently and fairly administer and collect the taxes levied by this state and to determine the valuation of centrally assessed property in this state.

B.  On or before December 31, 2017, the committees of reference or a joint meeting of the senate finance committee and the house of representatives ways and means committee or their successor committees shall hold a public hearing to review the auditor general's follow-up reports relating to the department of revenue's implementation of the auditor general's sunset review recommendations.

Sec. 4.  Retroactivity

Sections 1 and 2 of this act are effective retroactively to July 1, 2016.
