HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AMENDMENTS TO S.B. 1158

 

(Reference to the Ugenti 14-page s/e amendment dated 3/17/15)

 


Page 7, after line 34, insert:

"k. for any person who votes an early ballot, the County recorder or other officer in charge of elections shall provide for a method of notifying the early ballot voter at no cost to the voter if the early ballot was received by the county recorder or other officer in charge of elections on or before the friday before the election and if there is a defect in the voter's ballot materials that will result in the rejection of the of voter's ballot from being counted, that the voter may attempt to cure the defect in the voting materials by 7:00 p.m. on election day. the county recorder or other officer in charge of elections shall do all of the following:

1.  make REASONABLE and meaningful attempts to contact the voter to alert the voter to the defect and to permit the voter to cure those defects that result from incomplete or incorrect information.

2.  tabulate the ballot as otherwise provided by law and notify the voter whether the voter's ballot was VERIFIED and counted and, if not counted, the reason for not counting the ballot.

3.  ENSURE that the method of notification provides reasonable restrictions that are DESIGNED to limit TRANSMITTAL of the INFORMATION only to the voter."
