FLOOR AMENDMENT EXPLANATION

 

 

1)    Stipulates that the State Board of Education may utilize resources and materials or portions of standards from other states in the process of adopting or revising academic content standards and corresponding assessments.

 

2)    Clarifying change that ensures both teachers and parents will be notified when either a teacher or student’s information is required to be sent to the United States Department of Education for a federal grant.

 

3)    Removes the requirement that academic standards submitted to the legislature are deemed approved if the legislature fails to act within 30 days.
