SENATE BILL 1346

 

 

 

AN ACT

 

making an appropriation to the department of economic security for stipends for the care of dependent children.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Appropriation; department of economic security; grandparent stipends; definition

A.  In addition to any other monies appropriated for this purpose, the sum of $1,500,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2014-2015 to the department of economic security for monthly stipends of seventy-five dollars per dependent child to be paid to a grandparent, if a dependent child is placed in that person's care pursuant to section 8-514 or 14-5207, Arizona Revised Statutes, or other court order and the grandparent meets all of the following:

1.  Does not have an income that exceeds two hundred per cent of the federal poverty level.

2.  Is not a licensed foster parent.

3.  Does not receive cash assistance through the temporary assistance for needy families program or a guardianship subsidy.

B.  For the purposes of this section, "grandparent" means a grandparent or any level of great-grandparent.
