FUNCTION OF THE Industrial commission of arizona:

Pursuant to A.R.S. § 23-107, the Industrial Commission of Arizona (Commission) has full power and authority to:

  1. administer and enforce laws relating to occupational health and safety;
  2. promote the voluntary arbitration, mediation and conciliation of disputes between employers and employees;
  3. license and supervise private employment offices;
  4. facilitate employment in Arizona;
  5. collect, collate and publish statistical and other information on employees, employers, employments and places of employment;
  6. insure that workers’ compensation claims are processed in accordance with rules and regulations;
  7. investigate claims of unsafe or injurious places of employment; and
  8. formulate and adopt rules and regulations to carry out its duties.

 

STATUTORY REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION:

Pursuant to A.R.S. § 23-101, the Commission is governed by five members who are appointed by the Governor, subject to Senate confirmation, and serve five-year terms. Not more than three members of the Commission may belong to the same political party. The Commissioners must have been residents of the state for five years immediately preceding their original appointment.

SALARY OR OTHER COMPENSATION:

Pursuant to A.R.S. § 23-101, members of the Commission must receive compensation at the rate of $50 per day while engaged in the business of the Commission.
