SUBJECT:      House Changes to S.B. 1303 – change of name; application venue

            As passed by the Senate, S.B. 1303 modifies application requirements for a legal change of name by requiring the court to consider new application criteria in determining whether to grant the legal name change. 

            The House of Representatives amended the bill as follows:

            Specifies that the court, when determining whether to grant a change of name to a minor, must consider only the new application requirements that apply to the minor, rather than all of the new requirements.
