HB2738 appropriates $4 million to AHCCCS for the purpose of entering in contracts with non-profit organizations which provided discounted health care services.

 

History

 

Discounted health care service organizations are usually non-profit associations which enter into contracts with doctors and nurses who volunteer their services at discounted rates. These groups often focus on community health issues. These services range from check-ups, dental care procedures, and other type of outpatient care. Some organizations also offer discounted rates for more serious health care problems, such as throat cancer treatment, breast needle biopsies, and treatment for diverticulitis.

 

Provisions

·          Appropriates $4,000,000.00, exempt from lapsing, from insurance premium tax fund to AHCCCS.

·          States that AHCCCS use these funds to contract with 501(c) organizations that provide discounted health services in Maricopa and Pima counties.

 

Amendments

Health

·          Adds Santa Cruz to the list of counties organizations must operate within in order to receive the discounted health services appropriation.

·          States that the appropriated funds may be used maintaining existence, not just expansion.
