A RESOLUTION
honoring aracely gurrola on receiving a 2000 prudential spirit of community award for her exceptional volunteer service.

Whereas, Aracely Gurrola, an esteemed resident of Phoenix and a student at Lowell Elementary School, has achieved national recognition for exemplary volunteer service in being named as one of Arizona’s top two youth volunteers and receiving a 2000 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and
Whereas, this prestigious award, presented by the Prudential Insurance Company of America in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers across America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving their communities. Aracely was selected from more than twenty thousand high school and middle level students around the country to receive this honor; and
Whereas, Aracely Gurrola earned this award by giving generously of her time and energy to "Line Up to Help", a fundraising project she initiated at her school to benefit victims of the devastating Hurricane Mitch in Central America. She also is active in her community in various other worthwhile projects, including clean-ups, food drives and car wash fundraisers; and
Whereas, the strength and success of our communities and the overall vitality of American society depend, in great part, on the dedication of young people such as Aracely Gurrola who use their considerable talents and resources to serve and better the lives of others.
Therefore
Be it resolved by the Senate of the State of Arizona:
1. That the Members of the Senate congratulate Aracely Gurrola on receiving the Prudential Spirit of Community Award for her outstanding record of community service and extend best wishes for her continued success.
2. That the Secretary of State of the State of Arizona transmit copies of this Resolution to Aracely Gurrola and Lowell Elementary School.
