The Arizona Legislature provides many internship opportunities for qualified applicants, including our Legislative Internship, Senate Broadcast Internship and the Legal Internship. Check out our programs below and discover which one is right for you!

Legislative Internship

Description of Position
Position duties will include conducting research, writing summaries of bills, attending committee hearings, presenting bills in committees and caucus, preparing amendments and communicating with legislators, liaisons of state agencies, lobbyists, constituents and members of the general public. Interns are supervised by a legislative staff person. Specific duties vary, depending on intern assignments.

Eligibility
Candidates for a Bachelors or Masters degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher at one of Arizona's universities who will have at least 75 hours at the end of the fall semester prior to the next legislative session. Students from all majors and disciplines are encouraged to apply!

Legislative Broadcast Internship (Arizona Capitol Television)

Description of Position
The Arizona Legislative Broadcast Internship offers qualified students a rare opportunity to learn about the legislative process, produce daily video coverage of legislative proceedings, and produce feature video segments for cable television.

Eligibility
Candidates for a Bachelors degree at the University of Arizona, Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University are invited to apply.

Do I have to be a broadcasting or electronic media student?
No. A background in journalism and/or experience with video equipment is preferred, but not required.

• A written statement (300 words or less). Include your purpose for applying for the internship, background you can bring to the experience, and aspects of the internship that interest you the most.
• Two current academic or professional letters of recommendation

Legal Internship

Description of Position
The Arizona Legislative Legal Internship Program provides a unique opportunity to second and third year ASU and UofA law students to learn about state government, current legal issues and the legislative process. The program affords participants intensive research and writing opportunities.

Positions are available in both the Senate and the House of Representatives with the non-partisan Rules Committee legal staff and the Democrat legal staff, and with the Legislative Council, the Legislature's non-partisan bill drafting and research agency.

Eligibility
Second and third year ASU and UofA law students.
