Cochairman Aguirre called the meeting to order at 1:35 p.m. and attendance was noted.

 

Opening Remarks and Introduction of Committee Members

 

Senator Aguirre welcomed everyone to the In-Home Care Providers Study Committee and upon her request, the members introduced themselves as follows:

 

Lisa Wynn – Arizona Department of Health Services

 

Dr. Gail Silverstein – Care Corner Personal Care Services, Owner

 

Virginia Pottenger – Arc of Arizona, Board of Directors

 

Karen Barno – Arizona Assisted Living Federation of America

 

Kathleen Collins-Pagels – Arizona Healthcare Association, Executive Director

 

Dawn DeMers – Homestead Senior Care, General Manager

 

Guy Mikkelson – Foundation for Senior Living, CEO

 

Presentation: Regulation of In-Home Care Services Providers

 

Courtney Gilstrap LeVinus, Arizona Association of Home Care, National Private Duty Association, gave a presentation regarding the State’s regulation of In-Home Care Services Providers and submitted a handout (Attachment A) urging the support of licensure for Caregiver Service Agencies. Ms. LeVinus submitted another handout (Attachment B) that made comparisons of regulations from selected states. She answered questions posed by the Committee.

 

Presentation: Rural Perspective Regarding In-Home Care

 

Laura Montoya, Prileo Homecare, gave a presentation on rural perspective of in-home care and how regulations might affect them differently than an urban community. Ms. Montoya answered questions posed by the Committee.

 

Public Testimony

 

Connie Thompson, ACC Homecare, owner, gave testimony and answered questions posed by the Committee.

 

Victor McMurry, In-Home Care Consumer, gave testimony to the Committee.

 

Denise Severs, Board of Fingerprinting, Executive Director, gave testimony and answered questions posed by the Committee.

 

Judy Clinco, Registered Nurse, Owner of Homecare Company, gave testimony and answered questions posed by the Committee.

 

Discussion of Future Agenda Items

 

The Committee held discussion on items to consider for the next meeting.

 

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:10 p.m.
