Cochairman O’Halleran called the meeting to order at 10:10 a.m. and attendance was noted.
SUNSET AUDIT OF THE ARIZONA BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH COMMISSION
Lori Babbitt, Office of the Auditor General, gave a PowerPoint presentation (Attachment A) regarding the performance audit and sunset review of the Arizona Biomedical Research Commission (ABRC) and answered questions posed by the Committee.
David Landrith, Chairman, ABRC, gave testimony in support of the continuation of the ABRC and answered questions posed by the Committee.
Dawn Schroeder, Executive Director, ABRC, submitted a handout entitled Arizona Biomedical Research Commission (Attachment B) containing a summary of the 2007-2008 commission activities and answered questions posed by the Committee.
Representative Stump moved that the Arizona Biomedical Research Commission be continued for ten years until July 1, 2019. The motion CARRIED by voice vote.
SUNSET AUDIT OF THE ARIZONA BOARD OF PODIATRY EXAMINERS
Emily Chipman, Office of the Auditor General, gave a PowerPoint presentation (Attachment C) regarding the performance audit and sunset review of the Arizona Board of Podiatry Examiners (ABPE) and answered questions posed by the Committee.
Dee Doyle, Executive Director, ABPE, gave testimony in support of the continuation of the ABPE and answered questions posed by the Committee. She submitted a handout (Attachment D) detailing the response to the audit.
Joseph Leonetti, Member, ABPE, answered questions posed by the Committee.
Dedrie Polakof, President, ABPE, answered questions posed by the Committee.
Representative Barto moved that the Arizona Board of Podiatry Examiners be continued for two years until July 1, 2011. The motion CARRIED by voice vote.
CONSIDERATION OF SUNRISE APPLICATION TO EXPAND PHARMACISTS’ SCOPE OF PRACTICE
Mindy Rasmussen, Arizona Pharmacy Alliance, gave a PowerPoint presentation, Pharmacist Administered Immunizations (Attachment E), in support of expanding pharmacists’ scope of practice.
Janet Elliott, Arizona Community Pharmacy Committee, answered questions posed by the Committee.
Kelly Hampton, Pharmacist, gave testimony in support of the sunrise application and answered questions posed by the Committee.
Jennifer Tinney, Arizona Partnership for Immunization, gave testimony in support of the sunrise application.
Representative Stump moved that the Committee adopt the sunrise application as submitted to expand pharmacists’ scope of practice. The motion CARRIED by voice vote.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 11:50 a.m.
