Cochairman O’Halleran called the meeting to order at 2:08 p.m. and attendance was noted.

UNIVERSITY AUDITS – PRESENTATION BY AUDITOR GENERAL

Technology Transfer Programs

Shan Hays, Performance Audit Manager, Office of the Auditor General, presented the results of the performance audit of Technology Transfer Programs at Arizona’s Universities, referring to a PowerPoint presentation entitled    “Arizona Universities’ Technology Transfer Programs, Performance Audit,                      May 2008” (Attachment A). Ms. Hays also answered questions posed by the Committee members.

Information Technology Security

Anne Hunter, Senior Performance Auditor, Office of the Auditor General, presented the results of the performance audit of Information Technology Security at Arizona’s Universities, referring to a PowerPoint presentation entitled “Arizona’s Universities – Information Technology Security, Performance Audit, June 2008” (Attachment B).  Ms. Hunter also answered questions posed by the Committee members.

Capital Project Financing

Monique Cordova, Senior Performance Auditor, Office of the Auditor General, presented the results of the performance audit of Capital Project Financing at Arizona’s Universities, referring to a PowerPoint presentation entitled “Arizona Universities’ Capital Project Financing, Performance Audit,   June 2008” (Attachment C).  Ms. Cordova also answered questions posed by the Committee members.

RESPONSE BY THE UNIVERSITIES

Max Davis-Johnson, Associate Vice-President for Development, University Technology Office, Arizona State University, responded to the                Auditor General’s findings regarding Information Technology Security and provided a status update of the implementation of the Auditor General’s recommendations. Mr. Davis-Johnson also answered questions posed by the Committee members.

Michele Norin, Chief Information Officer, University of Arizona, responded to the Auditor General’s findings regarding Information Technology Security and provided a status update of the implementation of the Auditor General’s recommendations.  Ms. Norin also answered questions posed by the Committee members.

Christy Farley, Director of Government Affairs, Northern Arizona University, responded to the Auditor General’s findings regarding Information Technology Security and provided a status update of the implementation of the Auditor General’s recommendations.  Ms. Farley also answered questions posed by the Committee members.

Karla Phillips, Director of State Relations, Arizona State University, answered questions posed by the Committee members regarding the        Auditor General’s performance audit results of Capital Project Financing.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:10 p.m.
