Chairman Biggs called the meeting to order at 11:01 a.m. and attendance was noted.

 

PRESENTATIONS

 

Letter of Mission

 

Justin Riches, House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee Research Analyst, distributed the letter of mission (Attachment A) and explained the purpose and responsibilities of the committee.

 

Overview of SETIF

 

Gail Lewis, Arizona Department of Transportation, explained the Safety Enforcement Transportation Infrastructure Fund (SETIF) and answered questions posed by the committee.

 

Border Issues and SETIF

 

David Randolph, Consultant on Border Issues, distributed copies of his testimony (Attachment B) and discussed the issues surrounding the ports of entry along the Mexican Border.

Update on Vision 2015, Arizona Ports of Entry

 

Luis Ramirez, Ramirez Advisors Inter-National, LLC, distributed copies of his PowerPoint presentation, “Vision 2015: Arizona’s International Port of Entry System” (Attachment C) and discussed the issues surrounding ports of entry.

 

PUBLIC TESTIMONY

 

Senator Al Melvin informed the committee of his work on a deep water port of entry near Guaymas, Mexico and the need for a rail line.

 

Attached is a list of individuals who registered their position on the agenda items (Attachment D).

 

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 12:10 p.m.
