Legislative Council

PURPOSE:     To provide bill drafting, research and other services for the Legislature as deemed necessary to improve the quality of legislation and to ensure full participation by the legislative branch in determining and reviewing policy and the administration of State affairs.

MEMBERSHIP:

House              Six members of the House of Representatives, appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives:

Ken Clark, Rick Gray, Albert Hale, Stefanie Mach, Javan D. Mesnard, David W. Stevens

                        The Speaker of the House of Representatives, who shall serve as Chair in even-numbered years:

David M. Gowan (Chairman - 2016)

Senate             Six members of the Senate, appointed by the President of the Senate:

Sylvia Allen, David Bradley, Gail Griffin, Katie Hobbs, Steve Smith, Steve Yarbrough

                        The President of the Senate, who shall serve as Chair in odd-numbered years:

Andy Biggs (Vice Chair)

Notes:  Terms are for two years, ending upon the convening of the regular session of the Legislature each odd-numbered year. The Chair alternates between the President of the Senate in odd-numbered years and the Speaker of the House of Representatives in even-numbered years.  Report dates to the Legislature are annually, prior to the beginning of the regular session, and when any necessary corrections to laws are needed. For the Forty-fifth Legislature, Laws 2001, Senate Resolution 1002, provided, in part, for the appointment of Committee members.
