Senator Andy Biggs is an Arizona native and has lived in Gilbert with his family since 1986. He is married to Cindy and they have six children.

Andy is a retired attorney. He is licensed to practice in Arizona, Washington, and New Mexico. The Senator has a bachelor’s degree in Asian Studies from BYU and a J.D. degree from the University of Arizona. He earned a M.A. in Political Science from ASU and has done additional graduate work there.

Sen. Biggs served the old Legislative District 22 in the State House of Representatives for eight years before being elected to the State Senate in November of 2010. As a freshman in the Senate, he chaired the Appropriations committee and was the Vice-Chairman of the Government reform and Judiciary Committees. Andy also served on the Rules Committee. Later in his freshman term, Sen. Biggs was chosen by the Republican Caucus to be the Senate Majority Leader. In 2012, Sen. Biggs was re-elected to the Senate to represent Legislative District 12 and was chosen by his caucus to be the Senate President. In addition to his role as Senate President, Sen. Biggs chairs the Rules Committee.

Andy has earned the designation “Champion of the Taxpayer” from Americans for Prosperity for his cumulative service in the state legislature, has been honored numerous times by the Goldwater Institute as a “Friend of Liberty,” and has received the Guardian of Small Business Award from NFIB for his career-long championing of small business interests.
