FUNCTION OF THE State Board of psychologist examiners:

Pursuant to A.R.S. § 32-2063, the State Board of Psychologist Examiners (Board) regulates the professional practice of psychology in Arizona by prescribing application forms and fees for licensure, developing licensing examinations, issuing and renewing licenses, investigating charges of unprofessional conduct and administering discipline.  The Board is required to maintain a record of all licensees in the state, Board actions taken on all applicants and licensees and the receipt and disbursal of monies.  The Board employs an Executive Director and may employ other personnel it deems necessary to fulfill Board functions.

 

STATUTORY REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION:

Pursuant to A.R.S. § 32-2062, the Board consists of nine members.  Each member must be a citizen of the United States and a resident of Arizona at the time of appointment.  Six members are licensed psychologists and three are public members who are not eligible for licensure.  At least two of the psychologist members must be full-time faculty members from universities in Arizona and at least three of the psychologist members must be in professional practice.  The public members may not have a substantial financial interest in the health care industry and may not have a household member who is eligible for licensure as a psychologist.

SALARY OR OTHER COMPENSATION:

Board members receive $100 for each cumulative eight hours of actual service in the business of the Board and reimbursement of travel expenses.

 

BUDGET AND FTES:       

For FY 2008-2009, the Arizona Joint Legislative Budget Committee estimated an operating budget of $407,900 and 4.0 FTEs.  In FY 2009-2010 estimates, the operating budget decreases to $400,300 and the FTE count continues at 4.0.
