FUNCTION OF THE Urban Planning Oversight committee:

 

The Urban Planning Oversight Committee (Committee) performs three functions:

1.      the Committee recommends procedures and strategies to efficiently create conceptual land us plans for urban state trust land and other state trust lands the commissioner considers appropriate;

2.      the Committee also provides advice on the types and extent of studies needed to create state trust land plans; and

3.      the Committee reviews and makes recommendations for final conceptual land use plans and the final five-year state trust land disposition plans for conformity with the conceptual plans (A.R.S. § 37-331.02).

 

STATUTORY REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION:

 

Laws 1998, Chapter 204, established the Committee in the State Land Department. The Committee consists of the following members appointed by the governor to staggered four-year terms

1.      One member with experience in drainage, hydrologic or infrastructure engineering;

2.      One member with experience in urban and community planning;

3.      One member with experience in contracting for planning studies related to residential; commercial or industrial real estate development;

4.      One member with experience in open space or natural resource planning; and

5.      One public member (A.R.S § 37-331.02).
