FUNCTION OF THE COMMISSION:
The Commission members must devote to their duties as
members the time and attention necessary to carry out the purpose, powers and
duties of the Arizona Power Authority (Authority). The Authority is charged
with the responsibility of acquiring and marketing Arizona’s share of Hoover power. The Commission must designate a person or persons to execute all documents
and instruments on behalf of the Authority. The Commission must submit to the
Governor an annual report containing a full and complete account of its
transactions and proceedings for the preceding fiscal year, together with other
facts, suggestions and recommendations deemed of public value.
STATUTORY REQUIREMENTS FOR
POSITION:
Pursuant to A.R.S. 30-105, the Commission consists of
five electors appointed to six year terms by the Governor, and are qualified by
administrative and business experience. No member shall hold any other salaried
public office or be associated with any public service corporation engaged in
generating, distributing or selling power to the public generally in this state
for profit, nor shall any member have any interest in any business that may be
adversely affected by the operation of the Authority in the discharge of its
duties.

SALARY
OR OTHER COMPENSATION: Commission members may receive up to $30 per day for each day dedicated
to Commission business (A.R.S. 38-611), but the total compensation cannot
exceed $3,000 per year, exclusive of allowable expenses.
BUDGET
AND FTES: The
Authority is funded by portion of the proceeds from the sale of electric power
(A.R.S. 30-124). The Legislature may also appropriate monies from the general
fund to the Authority (A.R.S. 30-203).
