POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE DIRECTOR:
Statute requires the
GITA Director to serve as the chief information officer for information
technology. The director establishes the minimum qualifications for each authorized
position with the qualifications subject to review by the information
technology authorization committee. The director employs, determines employment
conditions and prescribes the duties and powers of administrative,
professional, technical, secretarial, clerical and other persons as necessary
to perform the department’s duties and contract for services of outside
advisors, consultants and aides as reasonably necessary. Employees of GITA are
exempt from Arizona Department of Administration Personnel Administration
(A.R.S. § 41-3502).

Laws
1996 established GITA. The Governor appoints the GITA director to serve at the
pleasure of the Governor. Statute allows the director to receive compensation (A.R.S.
§ 41-3502).
